Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Hey all,
I'm going to build a new PC mostly for playing Battlefield 3. The only prerequisite is that it should have an SSD, ideally around the 100GB. Shops that I think about buying from are http://www.afuture.nl and http://www.zercom.nl.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dennis
Allright, time to update my findings.
I've tried the 186.18 WHQL driver but it delivered the same results. This basically rules out the driver itself. I've also tried to use power from different rails but that also resulted in crashing display drivers, BSOD's and freezes. This results are from...
Sounds like a good test procedure. How does one downclock the GPU and RAM? I've never had to do this before. I got RivaTuner and the following BIOS layout: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/09/21/overclocking-intel-s-core-i5-750/3
Mind that the link resembles settings for overclocking...
Sorry for the shameless bump but does anyone know a different concrete testing method which will give me more guarantee which part is defective?
Many thanks,
Dennis
Well, to be honest i don't have a lot of money right now since I'm a student. I can however RMA parts since that won't cost much/anything. RMAing does render my computer unusable so I'd like to RMA parts when i'm completely sure. As mentioned earlier I have tried using half the RAM but it still...
Never mind, it locked up as soon as I was gone for 10 mins. Plus I found out more weirdness.
If I use these settings it shows graphical glitches when the time in game is 7:00. I made a movie of it that you can view here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I74VM7TIanA (sorry for my bad accent, can't...
Interesting, I loaded the 99 loop benchmark and when it was done loading Crysis it gave a BSOD. I haven't had one in a while. Furthermore, when it rebooted it couldn't find a boot device. A glance in my BIOS showed that all drives were accounted for. The top one is my boot device. However, the...
I don't think it's the temperature. I just ran FurMark on extreme burning mode and the temp didn't even reach 80c. As far as I have read there are people who get 90c under load with a GTX 295 and still run fine.
Since FurMark is OpenGL I thought that it might be the DirectX10 instructions, so...
I connected the GPU via different cables and rails to the PSU. I've ran 3DMark vantage and I was actually able to grab the exception when it crashed. It did not froze this time:
IDXGISwapChain::Present failed: Device removed.
(DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)
Furthermore, the system still is...
I'd also think the GPU would show more abnormalities. Still not sure.
Anyway, I tried to check the RAM with some basic trial and error. I took out 2 of the 4 sticks thus leaving the secondary ram slots A2 and B2 open. When I booted the motherboard reported that I needed to reset all settings, so...
Are you suggesting to blame myself? To be honest I did think of I might had messed up somewhere. Therefore I checked everything twice and it all looks OK. I have been building 10+ pcs in the past but I never had a problem with those. Up till now I can't tell if it's the hardware, software or my...
I got Operation Flashpoint to be playing for 40mins. It didn't crash. The key was "Run as Administrator". I fired up Modern Warfare 2 as admin but that crashed after 15 minutes of gameplay. I noted that with both games the background music didn't loop but kept playing.
I don't really suspect my...
191.07 showed the exact same freezes. Logs do not show any precise error because I have to perform a hard reboot.
Any other ideas? Because I'm running out.
If it was my RAM wouldn't it also freeze on normal desktop usage when running heavy programs? The RAM is already running at 1.65V.
Going to try with 191.07
Results:
Load temp on CPU was 55C (131F) measured by Real Temp.
Tested with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising on 1900x1200 with 8x AA and everything on high for about 10 mins.
Temperature doesn't seem to be it?
Is there any way of getting firm conclusions on this? I'd hate having to RMA...
