Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB $145 FS NewEgg
Try the SATA Metal Gear Boxes for an enclosure. There is one that does both USB and SATA straight through. Just add a PCI SATA controller. I have two of them when they were run by PPA International.- filename.exe

I have purchased the Seagate 250GB and used a Metal Gear Box enclosure. These enclosures are aluminum and carry no fan so that heat dissipates quietly. (Do make sure you get the one that is SATA.)
