But does anyone know how leaving a solid white (or whatever color) screen on the monitor for a long time is ok? Isn't that what causes stuck pixels in the first place, the fact that a pixel is showing one color for a long time? I don't have warranty any more.

I've found this: LCD repair v2.0 site and supposedly what you should do is leave a white or some other color screen on for hours to fix the stuck pixels, but isn't that what causes the problem to begin with? The pixel showing the same color for a long time.
