    Ok but i really don't see how any of that is due to a technical failing of AD. In my experience cost and redundancy haven't been an issue. I'm not saying you have to use AD. I'm just unaware of any product that challenges it realistically.

    Wow, I kinda forgot about this, whoops im running 14.04 desktop because i like a GUI To clarify the torrents are running on the ubuntu guest. I witness the slow performance when the guest is experiencing moderate load.

    Ok the content indexing/metadata download stopped, but the torrent is still going and the VM is running a lot smoother now (it's y'know usable). Also disk activity has gone back into the single digits. I take it that's what low IOPS looks like?
