I think it all boils down to: Bulldozer was not ready to release

Idle power is good and that is most important, With AMD you don't need to buy as many motherboards as with intel I hope GF will improve the power consumption on higher clocks

    Is Bulldozer really this bad?

    Who needs good singlethreaded performance?

I think it all boils down to: Bulldozer was not ready to release

Those that actually need a fast cpu gets a fast cpu with bulldozer because most processor intensive applications are threaded.

So what went wrong with BD?

Llano is thuban on 32nm Bulldozer on Photoshop CS5 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-8150-zambezi-bulldozer-990fx,3043-15.html Photoshop CS4 Bulldozer runs well on newer applications that need a fast cpu

So what went wrong with BD?

It doesn't perform like shit, what it does is that it doesn't live up to expected performance. They need to focus on L1 cache speed
  8. F

why choose BD of any variety over a 2500K?

The lowest FPS values are higher on bulldozer

Why are you surprised about Bulldozer's performance?

That is the main problem. I think AMD hoped for clocks about 4.0-4.2 and turbo 4.6-4.8. Maybe it will be there the next or next-next stepping.

So what went wrong with BD?

Write speed for L1 cache sucks http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/4348/amd_fx_8150_am3_3_6ghz_bulldozer_cpu_review/index6.html

Bulldozer, best gamer cpu because high min values?

Not for me. The lowest 5% is the most important average fps on BF3 for bulldozer is ok though, maybe better than intel
