I have a Sapphire 800 XL and it does not need a power connector and unlike my old x800 Pro it draws all it's power from the PCIe slot. I have an OCZ psu and it has a separate PCIe power connector. So to answer you question I am using the 24pin on the mobo but have an extra one for a PCIe...
Well finally settled on the 1970GX. I took both home for comparisons but like the glossy look of the GX better than the matte of the 930B. No dead pixels and the color reproduction is amazing. Highly recommended.

Sapphire X800 Pro VIVIO PCIE $349
Sapphire X800 XL PCIE $449
I just ran a Doom3 demo1 benchmark and found that the XL ran it faster (47.2 vs 38.2) so that makes me happy.
One odd thing is the one picture in the ad is...
I forgot to mention the Pro is $100cnd cheaper. I'm using the newest Omega drivers. I have Doom3, HL2, and Far Cry but have no idea how to use them for benchmarking
Bought a Sapphire x800 Pro PCI-E flashed the bios to get XT but got an SE instead. Played around with it and I was able to oc to 550/560 stock cooler. Even with only 12 pipes it still scored ~12000 in 3dmark03 and ~5700 in 3dmark05
Fast forward to today and I still wanted 16 pipes so I try to...
hey decoded nice pics, thanks. I thought I had convinced myself that I wanted the Sammy but the NEC has a glossy cover over the monitor (just like Sony's Xbrite) as compared to the matte finish to the 930b. Another issue was the fact that Samsung does not include the DVI cable
Need to get a 19' LCD and these two seem to be what I've narrowed them down to. Both have 8ms response time which is what I'm looking for. The NEC is $50cnd more than the Samsung. I've also been looking at the BenQ 937 which has a 12ms response time and cost $180cnd less. Help!
I building a gaming system and need some HDD recommendations. I can get a Seagate 80gb drive for $90cnd or a WD Raptop 74 for $240cnd. Is the difference worth it? I really don't need a lot of space as I have a portable Maxtor HDD.. Thanks in advance
Wait! The 800XL beats the 800 Pro??? I was talking to a sales rep and he said not to bother with the XL. It's $100 more cnd here in Alberta so is it worth that money.
I'm just finishing building a new game machine but need help picking a vid card. The price is practically the same so I need to gather opinions. Thanks in advance.
