    Just back from Microcenter. They ran out of the X4 840, but they had the X2 560. Got it with the 880GM-E35 for $105.

    I can expand the budget if necessary. They have a bundle with the Phenom II X4 840 and MSI 880GM-E35 Socket AM3 880G mATX for $115 after tax. That looks like a winner.

    The optical drive is an external Lite-On eZAU422. I'm thinking about just taking it out of the enclosure. It's a damn good drive. I ripped about 2000 CD's with it and it still works great.
