Hm I may have spoke too soon, getting some nasty rolling/shimmering on gray, probably from not sticking to the original 180Hz PWM frequency. Wait so it stopped working using DVI, or you were always using VGA? Unplug the VGA/DVI, user the power switch by the AC plug to turn it off. Turn it on...

    HP ZR24w

Time to take this thing apart. Signal PCB Labeled "HP L24HLAQ-UH1 V0.23G" on the back Power PCB Interconnect board. Had some cool island cutouts in the PCB, but couldn't figure out how to take the top plate off to see what they were for. Ah, the reason behind the eye rape. Six monster...

    HP ZR24w

Thanks. Might give it a shot though since I have two stuck pixels. On my philips 240PW its much more subdued and even, to the point of not noticing it when I don't look for it. With the ZR24W its clearly brighter, and a lot worse in the bottom left. The top right is not noticeable at all.

Ah, yes I think you are correct. Is it worth trying to exchange for one with less glow? In post 1907 you mentioned getting one with black being completely dark. Does it still have the glow you mention, or was that your older monitor? Judging by the few pictures and comments it seemed like they...

Do you like one big monitor or more than one smaller monitor?

Two smaller of equal size. Seems better for reading on one, working, watching a movie on the other, etc.

    HP ZR24w

Picked it up today. I have a 240PW9EB philips which is similar panel to u2410 to compare to. Text is good. Text on the 240PW is not, it looks like the ZR24W on sharpness setting 5. ie tinted red/green on the edges. This could be due to some internal processing, and not the 240PW's panel. Color...

I think it's time to upgrade from my 2005FPW what would you guys recommend?

One way to narrow it down is to decide if you want a wide gamut monitor. U2410 is, EA231WMi and ZR24W are not The 600+ monitor I assume you are referring to is the LCD2490WUXi2 ($700) right? What do you do mostly, photo editing, text, gaming? I have the 2005fpw, philips 240PW (similar panel to...

    GTX280 buyers remorse thread

lol "turned out to be"? When the 8800GTX came out, benchmarks had it absolutely blowing away the previous gen (2x performance gain or more at times). Even against the 7950GX2, it was a clear winner. GTX 280 benchmarks were nowhere near as impressive. Unless of course you see advances in...
