Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Just necroing this thread to inform some folks that were worried about gaming performance etc..... as some of you know the e5 v3's can be hacked towards 3.5ghz on all cores, netting a 40% performance boost over stock, without any overclocking per say, just unlocking the turbos. In which case the...
update: I do see some throttling under full stress, mainly via all core clock speed, if current and load protection requires it, so that's a bit of a consolation that it's not "all out there".
The performance figures I'm seeing match exactly those of an e5 2673 v4 , which is a higher specced 20...
Ok, you're out of luck, that one is an ES chip, the mod will NOT work on it.
On topic:So I understand if my max temps are 77-80c(around Tcase), I'm doing ok?
I assume QFGH is QS, you need to make sure via aida64 that it is 306f2 cupid, then have a look at both files linked few posts above, these are from that thread.
KaptainBlaZzed: Is the motherboard temp sensor reading any indication to what is going on? I might forfeit on throttlestop's power...
First of all, stepping. 306f2 or QS is fine(stepping 2), ES earlier samples wont work. your asrock bios should be easy to strip the ucode. See the thread mentioned above @anand
If successful, your performance should be about 30% better.
silent-circuit: try these for starters, note it works only on haswell-ep oem or qs

KaptainBlaZzed: I will monitor stability of course during next few months, my pc is 24/7 too, but no need to torture the...
OK thanks, though the TDP sensor is patched with the new mod, could be ignored. So you say the motherboard vrm and mosfets and cpu in general are not too affected by tdp, even if it is hacked? (as I said also- power cut feature of throttlestop)
Also, if you mention the 2683, the user does not...
cpu: xeon e5 2686 v3 , 18 core/36 threads, bios/uefi driver modded to boost turbo all cores to 3.1ghz instead of 2.3, while 10-12 cores can boost to 3.65ghz simultaneously, instead of the 2-3 default to 3.5ghz.
NOTHING else changed in bios, except bclk 103 and vcore- adaptive. also throttle...
Build project is under way, for the time being added 16gb ram(=48gb total), added samsung 500gb ssd, first benchmark of crystal mark.
Funny the game stutters are gone due to the ssd, even still with the 780 ti sli
crystal mark samsung evo 500gb, i7 5820k
I like trucks, dont worry it will carry many boxes @500 km/h, faster then 99% of other's (i7) bicycles, take a look at passmark cpu graphs, there are only couple of cpus in the world faster than the 2686, it can take a 6950x in it's pocket.
P.S. cpu was shipped..... benchmarks soon, forgot to...
lolfail9001, arestavo : those opinions are valid, though partially; i read puget systems article for reasons for and against xeons, saw youtube reviews of xeons, debunked a few of those myths; If i have the ability to upgrade to a much more feature full cpu and heavy weight to boot, i will do...
koomba: well, the dry numbers from passmark website show an average 23% single threaded deficit/ nothing to write home about when future multi core aware games start to appear, and in an 4k / msaa/ gpu bound ultra settings environment (the average combined score of the xeon vs. 5820k is 50%...
