    M2/Windows 10 Install weirdness on x470 board

On this board, the second slot is x8. I don't think there would be much of a performance difference in running a video card in an x8 slot versus an x16, but there's no reason to find out. The joke is on me - I installed the SSD in the top slot and Windows saw it. Got the system up and running...

Ha, I'll check that when I get back home tomorrow. I'm going to have to laugh if that is my whole problem!

    M2/Windows 10 Install weirdness on x470 board

I just put a new Ryzen 2700X box together and I am running in to issues with getting Windows 10 to recognize an M2 SSD (It's a Samsung 960 EVO). I'm installing from a USB stick I just made with Microsoft's tool, it's a current download. I haven't built many computers in the last few years so...

Picking a GPU for my first build

Those contrast ratios are loads of crap, FYI. If you're going to quote contrast ratios, find one that is measured in a good review. LEDs are also bad for color gamut, but, hey, it's a cheap TN panel, should be fine for gaming and crap for everything else.

AMD Phenom II X4 N970 vs. Intel Core i5 2410M

Even if the AMD chip were much faster (it may be a bit faster for photo editing, but it won't be night and day), the battery life difference will be huge. i5 all the way.

    Choosing a 30" monitor

With the HP, you get the same panel, less input lag, no scaler, and so only two inputs (Dual link DVI and Displayport). You can't use it with anything else. If you need the inputs, scaler, and OSD, get the Dell. If you don't, there's probably no reason to get it over the HP. Just received an...

I want to do a 3-5 multi monitor set up

Oops - the card I listed will do 3 monitor outputs, but only 900 pixels of vertical resolution, it won't do 3 1080p displays. You'll probably need something like a 6850 or similar if you want to do 1080P or 1920x1200.

I want to do a 3-5 multi monitor set up

You should be able to get away with a fairly low end card if you won't be gaming. Do you have 2 pcie x16 slots? Then you just need 2 cards. One card can drive 3 displays. Just look for something with eyefinity with the outputs you need. Look at this card...

    Doublesight DS-305W or 275W worth a look?

I'm looking at getting a new display for my computer setup. Namely, one to replace my venerable Samsung 204T (20" MVA, 16x12) - it's an OK monitor but doesn't fully meet my needs. I have a 24" TN panel that is fine for gaming but does not work for photo work at all, the color shift is just too...
