    I figured it out. I needed to first restore the OS to the drive and THEN restore the MBR & Disk ID. I was trying to do both at the same time in one go. Apparently you need to do TWO SEPARATE operations. I'm not sure why, but the drive boots up fine now. I need to check the alignment still...
