An update:
Replaced the PSU, still the same problem.
Reseated the CPU using new thermel grease and changed the voltage settings of my ram to 1.654 and the timings to 8-8-8-24 (I have the OCZ gold RAM). Doing this actually allowed me to install Windows 7 all the way, but it soon crashed...
1.) Don't know a whole lot about SSD drives. I do know that their life-span is not as long as SAS drives. Personally, becase you're on a budget, I'd get one SSD drive for the host (the one where you'd do your gaming) and install Win2k8 and basic SATA drives for the rest. I'm pretty sure...
I work at Microsoft in a lab where we run many (1500+) VMs as test machines for testing Windows 7 (I work for the group who releases the Win7/R2 patches/Service Packs) and I can tell you from experience the number one bottleneck I see when running VMs is disk I/O performance. At the very least...
Hi All,
So I have an issue that I really haven't seen before and I would like any input I could get...
Here's the basic hardware that I purchased:
AsRock X58 Extreme
Core i7 920
ATI Radeon 4890
Rosewill PSU Green Series 630W...
Ok guys, here goes my problem...
I built a HTPC for my big screen TV and have been getting this recurring issue with playback. After a fresh restart of the machine, HD plays flawlessly. No problems whatsoever. However, over time, I see that HD begins to stutter (720p and 1080p). Finally...

I think it might be related to me switching up the drivers a bunch of times...I'm not sure. When I checked the score today, it said that it detected changes in the hardware (which obviously I didn't) I can only think it found changes because of the different drivers I installed.
So am I...
Ok, if yours runs well, my computer is obviously not running the way it's supposed to. Each time a transition for a photo occurs, there's very noticeable jerkiness.
My score is 4.0 (lowest being the desktop performance category). I'm not sure if the difference between ours is because you've...
I do remember seeing some registry setting I had to change for RivaTuner...but I still had problems OCing.
Could you do me a huge favor and see how well the "pan and zoom" screen saver runs on your computer? (assuming you run Vista, of course...)
Thanks,
Marc
Sorry for the late response....
My specs are pretty much the highest I could get at the time...2.2 C2D and 3 Gigs of RAM..I'm assuming that should be good for most games that are older than 1 year.
I'll try formatting the machine once I get a chance and if that doens't work, I'm going to...
I'm trying to figure out whether my new laptop already has some Vista limitations or whether there's actually a problem with my hardware/software...
I first noticed it with Aero...Somtimes I'll see some jerky movements when I minimize/maximize windows or when I do the cool, yet pretty...
