Thanx so much for the compliments...:)
As to the questions, i've already started with the designing of the changes needed to make the doors hinged, and it's starting to look more complicated than I thought. Piano hinges would require an accuracy i can't provide with my simple tools, and other...
I've thought about making hinged doors in there, though i always refrained of doing by the very decent chance it would ruin the front door on the first attempt. So to make hinged doors it there it would require building a new front for the case, which is something, up to now, just didn't have...
Unfortunately, it doesn't at boot, would have been too complex for my meagre electronic skills. I did make it the windows startup sound though...
Since i've decided to compete in the Dutch CAsemod championships, i needed to finish a lot of small things. I a touched up the paint where needed, fixed a couple of small issues, and set myself to making a few decent pictures of the case.

It's been a while since i updated the worklog, but here it finally is, the next update... :)
This fase of the project needed a lot of time to think small things through, not only i had to find a way to direct the airflow, also i needed ways to fix everything in place, without permanently...
It's purely a hobby... :)
To make things worse, the tardis is the first thing i made out of wood, besides sawing a few shelves now and then.
Wood's a very forgiving material though... :D
Thanks to you all for all the encouraging comments.. :)
A small update of the stuff i didn't have time for to post in the starting post, as promised in the same post... ;)
A proper tardis needs a light on top, so i got this nice miniature fixture to mount on top of the case. For...
The Reason
As you are probably wondering, why on earth (or beyond) would anyone build a custom case in the shape of a tardis?
To this question there are only two proper answers. Firstly, because i can. Secondly, because of this little machine:
With a machine like this in my computer...
My humble old box, nothing more than a large case to fit in as many hdd as possible...:)
All fitted into a modded old netware server case...
Total number of hdds: 23 (system disc is not visible underneath all the cables)
Total storage: 5.2 TB
don't underestimate the complexity of building it though, there's a lot of wood in there, and it's a tough job to fit everything together without it looking 'unreal' or out ofplace. A small mistake can make it look like just a wooden box instead of a miniature tardis.
