Thanks, everyone, for all of these ideas. I think something like the Scythe Ninja Wire is what I had in mind. I like the fact that it has adjustable fittings to take up the slack. I may go for it if I can't figure out a way to prop up the cooler from the case bottom.

There are no commercially available ready-made case modification parts meant for this function, correct? I have a Lian Li case, by the way.
