Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I'm playing at 2560x1440 and it's screaming. I can bump up to 4x and beyond (which kind of pointless at that res unless you faceplant against the screen) and everything on ultra. The shadows in the city and the water slow it down a bit (also did on my 5970) but I could be a bit CPU limited...
It's an Antec 850w. I've run 2x5970s at one point off it (different MB). It's not a load thing. And it's not happening with the 6970 so I don't think it's a "warm up" thing. I think my 5970 has the cold bug. It does the GSOD thing when the clocks aren't forced to 400/1000.
Currently a eVGA...
I apologize for the random writing style.
I ordered 2 6970s to replace my 5970 (thought the 2560x1440 could use the horsepower) and I forgot that I don't have a CF board. I had switched out a finicky Rampage Extreme (the original) that has CF with a simple and reliable EVGA 790i SLI. I...
WoW will constantly load textures. It's footprint is 30gb+ as of Cataclysm. If you watch your HD light, it's almost always on. I moved the game to an SSD which helped but you'll still get micropauses if someone flies into your view with gear that's not in memory. Little hiccups. I don't...
I know cold bug isn't the proper term but I don't know how else to say it. I'll explain my problem below and what I've found with the 6970. Hopefully this helps someone who's run into the same thing or is wondering about this.
GSOD problems
I bought the Sapphire 5970 on release day from...
Hijacking with a related question... In CF mode, the RAM is still shared right? So the new 69xx 2gb cards paired up would still be 2gb usable and the 6990 could possibly be 4gb (still 2gb usable)?
Try 10.10e. The drivers are actually newer than 10.11 and I bet just the UI was changed for 10.12. I have mlaa on my 5970 with no crazy inf stuff. I skipped 10.11 and looks like I'll be skipping 10.12.
I'd be surprised if it didn't. My 5970 came with one mini to full size DP. I ordered twin 6970s and expect the same but I don't see any pictured in the xfx box. Sapphire includes them. Oh well. Monoprice.
I don't think there's an inherent preference (like logic or vendor detection) but in my opinion AMD's chips are cheaper to go wide (quad core etc) at lower clock speeds which is not what you want. But if you go with a Phenom II X6, it has a turbo core like Intel which is what you want. WoW is...
I just had to roll back to 10.5 to fix the amazingly crappy issues I was having with my 5970.
SC2 boot up screen would go into acid mode where the geometry of the ship flying by would stretch to infinity and little dot textures would blink. Then my box hard froze. It was pretty funny, I...
I had a lot of issues getting 10.6 installed. Thought I had things fixed with the GSOD. I'm firing up a stupid Pop Cap game (so simple) and my whole box is freezing. I tried underclocking, overvolting. Memtest is doing fine. I went all the way back to the 10.3 cats (non beta) and Pop Cap...
[SOLVED]
Just another data point for this thread. 10.4 to 10.6 upgrade was causing a BSOD system_service_exception. I have a 5970 so it seems to count as a CF card in relation to this problem. Other people seem to be able to just install over the old drivers (as I've done every time until...
I have to do this with my Sapphire 5970. Exact same issue. Very few fixes floating around (this is the first thread with the 5970 specific XML I've seen). I wonder if I should RMA mine? I'll never see it again, there's no extra stock.
