Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Have you tried installing the HDD, going into the BIOS, and using the "reset to defaults" option?
Kind of going out on a limb here, as I haven't ever done anything with ZIF/IDE on laptops/netbooks, but it seems that might work.
From what I've read, it seems like an incremental update. Likely, it will draw slightly less power and be slightly faster.
I bought an Eee 1000HA for my girlfriend, upgraded the RAM to 2GB, and am soon to receive a fast 4GB SDHC card for ReadyBoost. (I did install Vista on it, 32-bit; though...
Competition seems like a good thing to me.
I'm okay with Nvidia making Intel chipsets (even if a lot of consumers think they're pretty terrible), because it's the only viable way a half-decent IGP is going to come to Intel platform [before Larrabee]. AMD/ATI certainly isn't making them...
I hadn't purchased either of the screws, though I know some of frozen cpu's goods are of dubious quality. I just know that anodized is generally considered to be superior to paint (and for plastics, dye is usually better than paint if it'll take).
If you get anodized thumbscrews, they won't fade as easily: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3450/scr-01/Anodized_Thumbscrews.html
Here are purple ones, actually: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=395
I've owned an EVGA 680i for 10 months, and it's been rock solid the whole time; there has been some disappointments:
nvidia firewall sucks ass
3-way SLI has only just now been added
sometimes, I fear my RAM will explode
My 7900GS died last month (EVGA replaced it with a 7950GT--apparently...
The reason I come to [H] nearly every day is because reviews are posted quickly and regularly, because your roundups help me decide where my money will go best to use, and because your review mentality of comparing "gameplay experience" makes better sense than most other review sites...
Insertion/removal cycles refers to taking the card, putting it into a reader/camera, and then removing it; MTBF is MEAN time before failure--that is, AVERAGE time before failure. Your use of the card is certainly anything but average. However, I'm not one of those people who say "OMFG, ur gonna...
I meant instead of using the onboard RAID.
Thank you, the clears things up quite a bit.
I was considering it for its cheap (disk-wise) fault tolerance, mostly, because I have a lot of media that I want safe.
At this point, I'm thinking it would be easiest to just save the money that...
Firstly, I'm sorry if any of these questions have been convered in another thread(s).
Are you recommending a controller with a parity (XOR) accelerator? Would there be any benefit to using an add-in card that doesn't have a dedicated parity processor? (Or do all add-in cards have that...
Possibly look into the Zboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823161013
It claims to register up to 7 simultaneous key presses. It has some wonky replacable keysets, but you don't have to use those...
I've looked around the internet for quite some time and cannot find an answer to my question: How does performance scale with RAID 5? And more specifically: Performance-wise, how would a 750GB 4 disk RAID 5 array compare to a 3 disk 640 GB one?
I know there are a lot of smart people here who...
