Remember that this is a pretty highly overclocked 2600k. Base clock is 3.4k. So you're probably getting 10-15% off the overclock alone. So a STOCK i7-2600k vs a STOCK i7-7700K is probably more like 35-45%. Now. One can easily argue that a 2600k overclocks well and easily. But not everyone did...

Well, getting AMD caught up to Intel is a good sign. Particularly since Intel has really not done much innovation on the desktop side in a long time. I'm still rocking a 6-year-old 2600K...albeit with an SSD in the system and as of last week a GTX1070 graphics card.

It worked fine on my 120GB 320 drive as well. I never had the 8MB problem, but this is my third drive. The first had a SMART failure and the second would randomly disconnect -- which is a bit of a problem for the OS drive.

I know that this is an old thread, but I stumbled across it recently. You can bend any aluminum alloy if you pay attention to the bend radius. For zero bend radius 2021, 5052, and 6061 without temper work well. 3003 should also work well, though it isn't in the chart...
