    I started messing with the catalyst control panel and changed some of the settings from their default performance setting to the highest quality settings and that seemed to take care of the problem. Crystal clear graphics and surprisingly high frame rates. Thank you all for the suggestions.

    I checked the xmdia web site and they don't even show the 512 mb card there. I would assume that it is a misprint but maybe it has to do with the larger ram size. Both the 128mb and the 256mb cards are shown on their web site as ddr3. I would contact their customer service and find out for sure...

    The 800xt's won't even keep up with the 6800 series so 1 7800 gt should show you better performance until the developers find a way to really use the added benefit of 2 cards at a time. I have an 850xt that gives me plenty of performance but I've heard the 7800gt is a hefty performance step up.
