I just bought a HP Pavilion dv9000 and have a hitachi travelstar IDE laptop drive that I was wanting to stick in the second drive bay. Since that drive bay has only a Serial ATA interface, I need an adapter. Does anybody know one that would work for this purpose.
You probably need to upgrade the OS on the Palm IIIe handheld to Palm OS 4 since earlier version of the OS did not have the capability to sync with WinXP or the desktop software Palm made avaiable for WinXP. Unfortunatly, palm discontinued selling the upgrade CDROM and don't make the upgrade...
I remeber reading a review somewhere where somebody bothered to try benchmarking a Quadro against a Geforce card, but I can't find it at the moment. The general conclusion was that you could game quite well with a Quadro, but it wasn't really worth the additional cost to buy a Quadro for a...
For $1999 you can get a Toshiba Satellite P105-S9722. That is a 17" Widescreen laptop with a 2GHz Intel Core Duo 2 Processor, 2GB of RAM, a Nvidia Geforce Go7900 GS Video Card, and a 200GB hard drive. It is the best deal I've been seeing from a major manufacture for some performance on a budget.
I would say bad or defective drive. It happens, particualarly with some models of drives more than others.
I seem to recall that early on, DVD drives used a single laser, but that proved problematic because the laser needed to get enough illumination for the larger pits on CDs was too much...
It sounds like it is running below the native resolution of the screen. Sometimes when a game or program that alters the resolution crashes, the screen gets left at a somewhat lower resolution than the native resolution of the LCD screen. So you might want to try upping the resolution of the...
I will second sc0tty8's advice. Anyway, Vista's release is getting closer. So if something currently being manufactured now isn't compatable, it probably will be later as they iron out the post-release bugs. Microsoft wants people to upgrade to Vista, more money for them.
Either way...
No, not all wireless cards are the same. I've been happy with the Atheros card I have in one of my laptops. It tends to work better and be more reliable than the integrated Intel cards.
If you have a PC Card slot or USB2, you can get a wireless card that you can use instead of the built-in...
Upgrade the RAM. It would give you much more of a performance boost than upgrading the processor would. 512MB gets to be a bottleneck if your doing anything serious. If you had more money to spend, I would say go ahead and grab 2GB of RAM instead of upgrading to only 1GB.
I've installed it on a Pentium MMX 233MHz laptop. Need a lot of patience in that install, but it works fine once you get it going. I've also installed it on several 400MHz P2 Desktops. You still need patience, but they run it reasonablely well. The main thing to worry about with gentoo is...
I have an old Toshiba P25 which is having its DVD drive being replaced under the PSP at Best Buy for the 4th time. Since it looks like they can't seem to replace the defective drive without putting in yet another defective drive, it looks like my best bet is to get them to replace the laptop...
