I didn't do an in depth analysis, but they seemed about the same. When I had the two monitors side by side with them mirrored, I could see a tiny difference in lag, but when using the Sony by itself, I don't notice it.

I'm actually using the Gaming Scene Mode, not graphics. I adjusted brightness and contrast, but haven't really payed around with a lot of the other settings yet.

I just got the X720 this week as well. No problems with any noise or other issues.
Did you go into settings and make sure you changed the HDMI settings to enhanced, and are using either HDMI 2 or 3?
