    I wiped off some of the excess thermal paste (there was a whole lot), and now the thing will only turn on for 1 second, then it shuts off. Uh oh... at least my powerbook still works great.

    yeah, I'd like to stick with as few fans as possible.. I'm going for quiet here. I touched the heatsink, and it's cool! it must not be seated right. I'm gonna re-seat it and re-thermal paste it (not too much), and I'll post the results.

    heh, I wish. The CPU is at 170 deg F. system is at 93 deg F.

    I believe I have good airflow. I got an Antec fan blowing out in the back of the case. I also have an Antec 400W power supply w/ 2 fans (of course). The system temperature is around 34 deg C.

    Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a cpu heat issue I've been having for quite a while (I'm surprised the cpu hasn't burnt out yet). My CPU runs hot. And by hot I mean.. HOT. I'm looking a the BIOS screen and it's saying I'm at 78 degrees Celsius just sitting and doing nothing...
