What you are looking for does not exist. :) The advantages of a crt are: Pro: Best response time (for games) Best blacks. Best color reproduction (depends on crt quality) Good interpolation (diferent rezolutions) Con: Big size. Not that bright. Fuzzy text. LCD: Pro: Best...

Unofficial 2405FPW Thread (Now that its been announced)

Well it all depends on what u had before. Mine looked relly bad out of the box at 50% brightness and in srgb color mode when I switched to custom color it became very nice and bright. For somebody with a crt or an older lcd it should look very bright out of the box for somebody with a new lcd...

    Samsung PVA and S-PVA Panels

PVA is the technology used S-PVA is samsung's implementation of PVA. By the way Samsung is the only one that still implements PVA. The other 2 technologies still in use is TN-Film and S-IPS.

Viewing Angles - Is this normal?

Any TN-Film display like the one used in the L90D+ (don't know about the sony one) is going to have bad viewing angles. That afects the colors between the top and bottom of the screen. Thats the price you pay for having an 8ms panel. Read any review on this display and also compare the...

Unofficial 2405FPW Thread (Now that its been announced)

Well I do both, I usually leave it to go to stand by but if I know I won't use it for a while I turn it off right away instead of waiting 10 min for the standby.

Could it be a problem with the video card? If its red on black it should also show up on other colors like green or blue (on white u would not see it because the red would be on anyway).

Unofficial 2405FPW Thread (Now that its been announced)

I turned mine off a couple of times and went in standby the rest of the time I use it normaly like all my other displays. I won't start keeping the screen on all the time just so I don't get dead pixels thats not normal! If it happens it happens I'll deal with it. ( I hope it won't :) )

    SLI 6800 or X850 for 2405

First of all you have a very nice system. There is no point in you getting an athlon64 setup with the cpu you have now, to get better performance you'll need to buy an FX and that costs about $600 just for the cpu. Video card wise the 6800 (gt ultra) sli might be better than what you have now...

Unofficial 2405FPW Thread (Now that its been announced)

I agree the colors look washed out if you don't set it up properly because the screen is way to bright (I run mine at 50%). But if you play with it especially go in the display settings and lower the gamma it looks really good. You have to play with it and definetly don't use the default srgb...
