Well, If the board is ATX, and you got the retail boxed processors, than you have everything you need. There should be a metal plate in the box with some standoffs. The plate goes under the motherboard, and the retention mechanism goes on top (the funny black clips that the heatsink rests on)...
The table on the MSI website is correct. Your friend was reading the manual, which says to fill the green slots first. I believe this is a misprint, as filling the green slots first will only get you single channel. :rolleyes:
