    problems in battlefield 2 demo

DICE stated there was a known issue in CAT 5.5. They (DICE) recommend CAT 5.1's if 5.5 causes display corruption. I'm using 5.6's without an issue, but they said it was card depedent.

    TV Gurus, please impart

My brother, who is in the television business, is upgrading a CRT 40" TV. He's single and enjoys video / movies / music as a passion. I don't know if I can help my brother, since he has much more knowledge than I on video technology. He works in the Post Production Film industry, as a...

Question on ATI x850xt pe install

The 4-pin... it isn't required. It's in case you want another line run from there to a drive (like floppy). Dim-Ize

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

After much time invested working through drivers, tweaks, hacks, and optimizations - I've finally found the setup which works best for me in games. In the spirit of this thread, and from comments already made, I believe the ONLY reason not to buy this display is if you are a very serious...

Unofficial 2405FPW Thread (Now that its been announced)

Is there a problem leaving this display on 24/7 and using a screen saver when not in use? I've had a CRT on for 5 years and I never turned it off. I just used the XP Plus! aquarium screensaver, just like I'm doing now. Not only did I not turn it off, I have no standby mode enabled on my...

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

Ozziegn, you will need the .net framework 1.1 to get this application to work. Dim-Ize

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

Mozmo, I did some checking on HL2 and triplebuffering. You are right!!! That helps so much it's incredible!!!! It gave me a 50% boost in frames in some scenes. I'm running 2XAA and 8XAF with VSYNC on. I couldn't take the tearing. Well, the program from here...

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

Riptide, I don't think overdrive is available in the standard control panel, only in the CATALYST Control Center, CCC. This thread discusses this I believe. http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33807548&highlight=X850+overdrive Since I don't use CCC, I don't know if that is...

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

I've also noticed in UT2K4, there is an option to reduce mouse lag in the game settings as well as the ini file. This has a significant impact on FPS, but seems to make it smoother too. This along with mouse smoothing for this game may take a bit of experimentation. Dim-Ize

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

Mozmo, Excellent suggestion. I'll search in UT2K4 for this option. Is it possible to turn this on in HL2 / CSS? Dim-Ize

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

This has been a good thread for me. Thanks for your input, Mozmo and Riptide, concerning refresh rates. I'm getting more and more interested in this display for gaming now that I've made a few adjustments. With VSync on, things seem to be working a bit better for me at the present. Dim-Ize

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

Rip, Cool man. Thanks. I'm going to see if I can get used to the tearing. 60 FPS isn't bad, but it can dip below that with VSYNC turned on - in some scenes in HL2 with 2XAA and 8XAF with reflect all and other details at highest. In your control panel options TAB, do you have "reduce DVI...

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

Riptide, You're probably right about me being pretty darn picky. In fact, I've thought that myself. I guess since I just spent this much on a display, I have over analyzed the thing to death. Frankly, I should consider it a blessing to own one instead of nit picking it to death. I'm...

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

Thanks Riptide for taking a moment to confirm this. I'm glad to know I don't have a faulty display. The other comments around games by Crosshairs and Thomas - may just be the category I find myself in. I've conculded that VSYNC is a must for absolute optimal results while using this display...

Why NOT to get the 2405fpw

I have the 2405 and a new video card, the X850XTPE. It is my first LCD and my first widescreen display. Previously, I had a 21" CRT Sony on a 9800XT. My requirements for changing (in order of importance) were: Gaming (quality and performance) Heat (my CRT was an oven in my office)...
