alright, update... I tried plugging my computer into a 3 prong grounded outlet using a heavy duty extension cord (says my surge protector, who knows how accurate that is though) and it's still a no go. It took about 5 minutes just for windows to boot up. Now I'm really lost as to what to do...

I want to keep the price under $250. I'm leaning towards the 8800GT 256mb, but I'm a little concerned about that amount of Vram. I don't use AA on any games, and game only at 1280x1024... Do i really need 512mb on such a small resolution??
