    NoteBook for Coding

If you can swing the budget a bit higher, and get the student discount + flip free ipod touch, a Macbook Pro 13" would be perfect for you. If not, you can always get the older unibody Macbook 13" on eBay for about $900ish. 12-14"? Check. 13.3" Multiple OS's? Check. My friend is using Visual...

Looking to buy a MacBook AIR for relative; what's the difference between these TWO?

Just another [H] enthusiast who knows the difference between good apples and expired rotten apples ;) d

Looking to buy a MacBook AIR for relative; what's the difference between these TWO?

The one with the 9400m is substantially better than the x3100 Air. They are almost two different machines. The Rev. A MBA (x3100) has a slow PATA interface for the HDD compared to the Rev. B MBA (9400m)'s SATA interface. The Rev. A MBA also uses MiniDVI, sometimes have core shutdowns from the...

lol @ the name calling, but yeah, you're right though -- it's an investment. I can't say the same for my gaming computer...

Much better than the Intel x3100 in previous macbooks by far. And when I mean great, I mean native resolution, all medium. 30+ FPS. Good enough for me for some casual gaming considering the IGP nature of the GPU. Sure, it doesn't compare to my 8800GT at 1920x1200 Very High, but I have less...

Yeah I've played L4D on my prior 8600m GT MBP, and now it still plays great on the 9400m in my uMB.

Thinking of switching from uMBP to a uMB

That's a late 2008 screen like mine. Its made by AU Optronics. Apparently, it's suppose to be better than the 9C89. I still use my Dell 2407wfp-hc when I get a chance. Watching a movie on the macbook screen is turning my body into a tripod -- if I move up or down, I can't see a thing. =)

Thinking of switching from uMBP to a uMB

You can use coconut battery to tell you the age of your mac. From System Preferences, if you go to Displays->Color Click Color LCD Click Open Profile Go down to mmod And see the value in the model section. I have a 9C89, which apparently is the worst one, but still looks great to me...

Most comfortable mouse you ever had?

MX1000, then MX Revolution. I have yet to own the MX1100, but I loved it at the store. Great successor to the 1000.

Thinking of switching from uMBP to a uMB

The newer Macbooks have marginally better screens than the ones released in Late 2008. I have a Late 2008 and with the correct color profile and viewing angle it looks fine. Otherwise I have to depend on my external PVA panel when I really need to get stuff done.

Thinking of switching from uMBP to a uMB

I went from a SR 15.4 MBP to a 2.4 uMB and I'm really enjoying the change. While stacked on top of each other the size difference isn't really noticeable, but once you pick up the machine there's a world of difference in terms of how rigid the Unibody construction really is. I'm also a fan of...

To MBP or not to MBP?

My CPU runs at 41C after being on for quite a while. Still beats my older SR MBP.
