IPS all the way. I bought my first NEC 20WMGX2 in 2006 and my second a year or two later when they were being discontinued. I put the 2nd into service last year. I dread looking for a new monitor, because I would just want another 20WMGX2, and there doesn't seem to be anything like it still...
I guess the pro-AG faction got even by eliminating the VESA mounting holes.
There's still no viable replacement for my NEC 20WGMX2. Fortunately, I bought a spare in 2007, and it's only been in use about a year. I need both a glossy screen and the VESA mounting option.
BTW, concerning the...
I was going to post that exact message. I've been using those shelves for probably 10 years now. The 10"x24" one is perfect for my Antec P180 and P182.
There's no way he ran new wire to all 12 outlets for $150. It's almost certain he merely jumpered the neutral to ground at each outlet, which will fool the UPS, but it presents a major shock hazard to people. It's a big no-no. What did he actually do?
I'm glad I was able to buy a spare 20WMGX2 when they went on sale for $399 after $100 rebate in 9/2007. That thing sat on a shelf in a closet until 1/2011, when I finally decided to call it quits on my original 20WMGX2 bought in 2006, which was making a whine that had risen above the noise floor...
I'd bet on the last thing you said. If the drivers were ready, they'd be out now. Because something is delaying them until next week at the earliest, they're clearly not ready. Did they say what the hold-up is?
Never tried to sell one. If I can't recycle it in an external enclosure or old system, and it's not worth keeping around as a spare, or it's developed defects, I destroy it. Step (1) is to try to wipe the drive using dban or equivalent. Step (2) is to take it apart, damage things as much as...
Nope, never fixed a defective pixel of any kind. I think it's likely a lot of "success stories" amount to removing an external piece of dust. Also, some defects are only apparent when viewed from certain angles on certain backgrounds, and it's easy to think they've gone away when they really...
Got my backup from Newegg today, and it's a keeper! No insane image persistence like the refurb, and no weird area of creeping discoloration like my old 20WMGX2 has developed. There are no pixel defects, and the whites are "whiter" than my old 20WMGX2. There is some minimal backlight bleed which...
Having a good monitor is important enough to me that I actually ordered a backup 20WMGX2 from Newegg last week as a hedge against there not being any decent, affordable monitors available in the next couple of years. I bought my first 20WMGX2 a year ago, but it's developed 10 sq in (and growing)...
It is going back. This is absurd. Who needs Vista's Aero Glass, with "technology" like this? :)
Seriously, it's a real shame. Now that I know what to look for and have developed a test to show it at its worst, I can see that my year old 20WMGX2 exhibits very, very minimal persistence. This...
I received my 20WMGX2 refurb today to replace my 1 y/old 20WMGX2, and it is excellent in every way but one: Extreme image persistence. I turned the brightness down to 25%, and after 5 minutes at the Vista desktop, dragging a Paint window filled with dark gray over various parts of the desktop...
