Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
You can try as a last hope with the manual restart:
Device manager - Display adapters - Disable/enable your graphic card, after the loop starts.
If it doesn't work it means that the adapter requires a power cycle to reset itself.
What does a video adapter have to do with gaming?
It's a simple converter from digital to analog video output, if you play a game or not doesn't change anything.
I don't have that adapter but from what i understand the problem occurs when it goes into standby/sleep because you disable its video...
What I've written between "" is the review of that guy on Startech website, it's not me, I edited my previous post to be more clear.
About the faster adapters there is a problem, while most of the new chipset use new and fast input like HDMI 2 or displayport with HBR3 lanes, the integrated DAC...
Yes it's a known issue, this is what a guy said in a review on Startech website (at the bottom of this page):
""When I first purchased it, I did run into a very niche problem. While the adapter was plugged in and the monitor was disabled in Windows, the adapter would cause the operating system...
1280x960 100 Hz requires a pixel clock of 178 MHz with CVT and 179 MHz with GTF timings, i think that even the worst adapter can handle that.
There aren't resolutions fixed by manufacturer or that can vary per adapter, OS through video drivers, EDID of your monitor and input bandwidth of your...
Ok, for now i leave it as it is, i only hope that it doesn't get worse.
If that were to happen, now I have a starting point thanks to your tips.
I suspected something like this, thanks for testing it.
Interesting, in the last year my FW900 started flashing blue screens during warmup, after some time the flashes turned red, now they are almost always red and very rarely blue.
It happens in the first 30-60 seconds after power on, usually one or two flashes, rarely 5 or 6, some days no flashes...
Thanks for testing all these adapters and also for the other things.
About the chipset:
PTN3355 should stop at 180 MHz with 8bpc and 240 MHz with 6bpc, maybe beyond a certain bandwidth it drops to 6bpc the input?
Same thing for the PS8617.
Vention CGKHA with IT6562 should stop at 360 MHz, i...
Is that loss costant across the resolutions or change as you go up with pixel clock?
It would be interesting to know if it also happens with other samples and what happen with the 62967 or the Synaptics based adapters.
Here you can find a summary of these adapters.
Until recently, users were telling if the image was good or bad, both Delock 62967 and Startech DP2VGAHD20 have a good image for gaming and media content, without blur or other bad things.
Then XoR did extensive testing on DP2VGAHD20 and discovered...
Did you see any differences in image quality compared to Delock?
Can you use different resolutions with different timings with VGA and HDMI or only the same?
