I agree! Now that WE can no longer find these boards, STOP PUTTING THEM IN THE FREAKING OVEN EVERYONE!
Get someone who knows what they are doing.
Instead of using TIM, I used a metal epoxy from Home Depot. Strong and I know the surfaces are completely bonded and will NEVER separate.
I WOULD NOT suggest this to anyone as their first soldering project!
You spent good money on a great monitor with a severe design flaw.
Have it repaired by somebody who knows what they are doing,
UNLESS you know what you are doing. I have repaired and sold 12 of
these monitors and have parts in...
If you don't know what you are doing with electronics, (this is to everyone who is not a modder or is comfortable doing this themselves.) replacing the board should be enough as the newer boards look like they were produced properly as opposed to rushed. Leaving the back off will help in the...
For all of the help I have received from these forums, I guess this is my chance to give back.
I didn't tear apart my monitor to show what I did, so I used my spare and explained what I did as I always keep extra parts in case $h!t happens!
Ok, Here is a shot of my SMD rework station...
I will chime in on what I did.
About three weeks ago mine started all of the ghosting and flashing.
I saw this link earlier in the thread.

I ordered the part figuring if I could not fix the original board, I...

This is not my site, I'm not trying to sell anything.
I hope you guys like it.
Thanks Solarfall,
I hope others find it as inspiration for other 'scratch' mods.
Go as far out there as you can. At least you will respect yourself for trying.
The first prototype ate itself, so I didn't think it would work at all.
Keep trying :D
Sprayin some right now!
I will post a pic in a little bit.
I use all kinds of paints though.
Two part epoxy on glass to 5 color chameleon color changin' stuff.
My lungs are techni-color :D
Awesome Tech-Daddy.
I love the Paasche VL double action.
Learned everything with that brush.
Now a days I am always using Iwata HPC
or Paasche AB turbo.
All the flippin' detailed work
What kind of paints you spit'n?
The only limitations you have, are the ones you impose on your self.
Don't let logistics get in the way of your ideas.
Experiment.
Email me some ideas and I will help with what I can.

Cool,
Cooling is cool, but I hear the new Kentsfield chips due out Q1 of 07' barley need a
fan on their heatsink. How cool is that? (Literally)
I like to get PCs out of the box. I am tired of the box. Set mobo's free!
What mod ideas do you have?
Sure,
I have a mod I am working on that has 1100+ hours into it and will require another
1000 hours to finish. Hope to have it ready for the release of Hulk 2 (the movie)
I wish I could tell everybody about it, but it will be worth the wait for the rest of you :D
What kinds of mods are...
