DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I wonder if one could pair a 120mm fan with one of these heatsinks. The fan would then cover the entire heatsink instead of just the circular inscribed region.

I agree, the negative dismissive comments some people present on this subject contribute very little. I believe, however, the conversation IS worthwhile, and provides valuable thoughts on what tests should be performed.

Ok, well if there isn't a couple of cm slack for lowering the riser, then I guess it couldn't be done.

I know it's too late now, and I'm sure it was brought up before, but it seems like graphics cards would fit better if the power connector was located at the top and the PCI-E riser was lowered a bit, especially with the newer vent hole pattern.

I corrected the scaling a bit. It appears the card will fit ok. I also added vent holes to the image to see how they relate to the fans

That shouldn't be a problem, they appear to be a couple cm below the highest point of the card (the heat-pipe).

I really like the 0dB aspect of the STRIX video cards. IME with an SG08, the fans of most GPU cards end up being the greatest source of noise that is exacerbated by locating the case on the desktop. I'm pretty sure I erred on the large side of scaling the card. I'll redo it tonight.

It appears that an ASUS STRIX-GTX980 may fit; It would be good to know for certain. I scaled and overlaid images with PaintShop and it looks close. I'm not sure, however, how to show my images in this thread.

With the SG08, using the Thermalright AXP-140 RT Low Profile Heatsink, per Silverstone the fan may be omitted.

Hmm... I'm puzzled. What do they expect the Z68 chipset to do for a HTPC. Methinks they don't understand their own market well.

    Silverstone SG08 @ Computex

Yes, but it just takes care that you get it on correctly; the area of the front right is pretty tight.

It needs more RAM first. No need for more than 4GB unless you run a 64-bit OS.

Absolutely. It's a 95W CPU, so it should be no problem at all.

Agreed: I have a 240GB and a 256GB system with no HDD in either of them. This would only apply to a cache miss or, to a lesser extent, a write operation. The point of the caching is to make the drive speed mostly irrelevant. IMO, this is just spending more for a marginal improvement.

If you get the z68 and a 60GB SSD you can use Intel's SRT to give the 2TB drive near SSD speed. Consider these: Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 2TB 5900 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-60G 2.5" 60GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT
