My G33M-S2H has only 4x in the 16xPCI-Ex slot but EVGA have told me that this is no reason for the card not to work.
RMA'ing the card now after trying it in a 16x slot board and still the same issues.
I'm thinking of perhaps changing the mobo anyhow as the 4x slot must be strangling any decent...
I'm RMA'ing the card. I'm just wary of sending it back without trying it on another board first. I'm trying to see if I can get someone else to test it on their board.

Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't updated the BIOS. I thought about it when I was having issues installing the card, but the latest is a beta - which I didn't want to try (especially as new CPU model compatibility seems to be the main fix).
