Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Got a new build going on, courtesy of the very helpful folks over at General Hardware, now I need a keyboard.
I'm a gamer, but not enough to prefer a permanent mechanical keyboard. I'm just looking for a low profile, snappy keyboard. Went to several stores to try out the ones on display...
Got everything on that list (except for the case in black)..!!
Thanks a bunch, Danny! Much obliged, really.
One thing though...the monitor you suggested is this:
Acer Monitor
However, I saw this other one, for the same price, but with LED backlit / HDMI input:
Acer Monitor LED Backlit
Went...
What I meant by "upgradeability": This motherboard supports the newer IB chips, in case I ever wanted to swap out for a better one, right? Could this mobo be used with the 2500k, just out of curiousity?
Seems this goes for about $150 after rebate. Is this considered a great value for this...
The chances of me overclocking are not nearly enough to warrant future expenses on the equipment necessary for it.
Plus, the IB model runs cooler, right? Less power..
Anyway, I really appreciate the info + links.
The Z77, as I understand, is upgradeable-proof?
From looking at the mobo...
I would need a hard drive. Not terribly worried about it being SSD. I could even do with a <500GB 7200rpm.
You know what, I might as well count the optical drive out. I was planning on taking my old DVD writer out of my previous PC, but it's 7+ years old, and it needs its own, anyway...
Slowly getting around to finalizing the list for a new, budget build. I list some products I decided on after some research, but they are by no means final. The point of this thread is to show what I gathered to be the best for my situation with the little research I did but also to hopefully...
I suppose I'll add in:
Only game I currently play is League of Legends. I play it on a laptop and really start raging when I get video lag (drop to 5 fps) because of overheating. I do plan on playing Diablo III and possibly Battle Field.
Not really into graphics-intensive games. I'm more of...
I'm (slowly) finalizing parts for a new budget build that revolves around the i5-2500k
The video card I'm looking at is GTX 560:

At ~$160 after a $30 rebate card (which expires tomorrow, 5/15).
Is this a pretty good deal...
Now I gotta ask, is there any way to salvage this pic? It was a very, very overcast day and the kind of dull palette the picture displays is basically what I was seeing at the time.
Any PP tips?
