DaeviousMax replied to the thread ASUS DARK HERO.
If you look at all the ryzen performance in gaming benchmarks the 5900x barely inches past the 5950x in performance which is what they were asking about. But as games become more thread happy the 5950x will stay relevant longer.

It’s barely faster in games vs the 5950x but in the long term the 5950x will stay more relevant as more cores are utilized in games in the future.

DaeviousMax replied to the thread Virtual Super Resolution?.
Yeah they cap it to 5880x2880 which I understand why, it’s their max resolution quoted in the hardware specs for their graphics cards, but they need to focus on making their graphics options at least on par with nvidia since they are trying to...

DaeviousMax replied to the thread Virtual Super Resolution?.
Yeah when I upgraded from a 1080 to a 6900xt I was let down by VSR. I was looking forward to playing older games at 6880x2880 but hit a hard limit at 5120x2880. AMD….let us have 4x resolution like nvidia gives us

GhostCow Wow! Interstate '76, that was a dope game.

DaeviousMax replied to the thread AIO and 5950x temps.
Well apparently, according to Steve at Gamers Nexus, cold plate contact uniformity is actually atrocious for a lot of aio coolers out there. I bought his number 1 pick for aio cold plate uniformity, the ekwb aio’s. Nothing came close to having...

Bro I’m still running my 3960x on x79 and it’s still very relevant. Have had it overclocking for 8 years now at 4.9 ghz all core at 1.35V. This thing is a beast!

DaeviousMax replied to the thread AIO and 5950x temps.
That sounds pretty high for idle, my 5900x runs at 32C at idle and 68C full load with PBO and CO. How’s your cold plate mounting pressure? And did you use the paste the cooler came with?

That’s interesting, I still have my original spread of kryonaut on my 2700x built in 2018 and my recorded temps have not gone up since. That makes it 3 years old at this point…I wonder if maybe you don’t have enough mounting force on your cpu...

My favorite thing to see when tech reviewers use the carbon pads is that they aren’t wearing gloves and putting their body oils all over the pad before slapping it down on the cpu. Gotta love YouTube hahaha
  • D
My point, there are no ageing problems. The paste wont dry or push out, a carbon fibre pad will work at its max capacity forever. Important if you cant do the work yourself again or if doing it again causes damage. And prevents loss of uptime or...

Unfortunately my 5900x’s memory controller can’t do 1900 mclock but will do 1866 all day with 3733 ram at 14-14-14-28-cr1 and tight secondary and tertiary timings

DaeviousMax reacted to RazorWind's post in the thread RTX 3060 Ti broken capacitor with Like Like.
It's cool, man. There's a Youtube channel out there with my real name on it where I talk about this sort of thing into a camera - if I didn't want to be asked, I wouldn't be screaming the answers to these questions into the void. My real job is...

I would go ahead and try them out, then determine if you need new ram

RazorWind is an awesome and knowledgeable person for helping out so many people with their graphics card problems, I could be wrong but I doubt he would appreciate people advertising to go to him with their problems across the internet. I relate...

Hahaha for a second there I was looking at the horizontal 24 pin power connector at top right of the board and going, …..why’d they put an IDE connector on a 2021 motherboard…..lol just goes to show how long I’ve been building computers.

I remember going to a Frys when I was a kid. I think we left not getting what we wanted.
  • D
    Heresy!!!!
  • D
Yeah Fry’s sells one of those…..oh wait, never mind. Sad times…..I used to be able to find anything odd that’s computer related at my local Fry’s in the not so distant past.

My trick is to get a power supply that is 3 times my max power usage and put a dedicated fan on it to keep the components at ambient temps where the components are rated to last the longest. Had my 1200w Corsair unit since 2013 and still going...
