Argh! That was it! Thank you, man! I've been working on this for hours and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I couldn't add a Legacy adapter. I owe you a beer.
First time using Windows Server 2008 R2. I can't seem to get networking down. My Hyper-V guest machines have no eth0 adapters (I'm installing Crux Linux in this case) and I can't seem to figure out why. I've added it in the 'Hardware' tab, but is there anything else?
I'm running the Server...
Interesting. I'm still using that cable on my storage HDD and it's working just fine. Might have to look at ordering a new set just to make sure. Thanks!
Bought my first SATAIII drive, a 6GB Vertex 3. However, I'm unable to get it to work. Sometimes it appears in the BIOS, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it just stops at the "Detecting drives...."
This is on an ASUS P7P55E D-LX motherboard.
I've set the drive mode to ACHI. Apart from that...
Love that fascia. I find myself drawn towards clean, efficient-looking cases. I've been debating picking up a pair of these for my file server and gaming rig but the wire management looks poor at best.
Okay, duly noted! In that case, should I bother re-installed Windows on the new Vertex 3 or leave it on the Vertex 2?
Any idea on whether I can swap back and forth between SATA II and III without causing issues by the way? I can't think of why I couldn't, but drives are fickle.
My biggest concern is seeing a noticeable framerate drop. According to some older reviews, the cards back then didn't even max out the 8x line so going from 16x to 8x had little to no effect. I'm not sure if that's still applicable on a 5850HD and Battlefield 3-level games.
My motherboard sucks. In order to obtain SATA III 6GB/s I need to reduce my PCI-E 16x lane to 8x.
Having ordered a Vertex 3, I'm having a hard time finding out whether reducing the PCI lane to 8x will adversely affect framerates. All the comparisons and reviews I've found were using old...
