Greetings, [H]. Have a question on a PSU upgrade to support a Mini-ITX build and a newfound graphics card addition! =] Currently, I have:
- Lian-Li PC-Q08 Mini-ITX board
- Current PSU: Seasonic SS-350ET 350w
- Asus P8H77-i ITX motherboard
- 5 x SATA drives (NAS)
- 16GB DDR3 ram (2x8gb)...
Very curious about that part.
I've been trying to get an ESXi whitebox build going , with an embedded Nas4FREE VM feeding out iSCSI LUNS internally back to the rest of the VM's but it's proven to be a pain. I'm leaning towards using my Synology DS-409 instead but have doubts about how fast it...
Hm, what version of ESXi are you using, 5? 4?
From what I understand, the concept is the same for any type of hypervisor whether it's type-1 or 2, whether it's virtualbox, VMware, Xen, HyperV or otherwise: the guest VM doesn't know of it's host other than what's exposed through the guest-tools...
apologies for bringing up an old post but the same question/problem remains for me and it's not a resolved issue as far as the thread's concerned.
With TWO controllers showing up on the ESXi storage adapter listings, I'm not sure how they relate to my SIX SATA ports.
- 00:1f.2 Intel...
thank you for the rundown -- I guess I should have tried harder to sign up =] (I had the approximate itinerary in an email) Were there any partner/breakout sessions that were interesting ?
Passing through the controller directly is turning out to be too difficult to make work, so I ended up using Virtual Raw Disk Mapping . Trying to create Physical Raw Disk Maps(aka. using vmkfstools with the -z flag) caused nas4free to show unsupportable block size errors.
Too bad...
I apologize for not having any answer to this, but I thought to lend an additional voice to the question -- there are a number of PCIe SATA controller cards out there with the Sil3132 chipset, so I wasn't sure which one (and the cheapest, honestly) to pick.
Did you have a specific card you...
Hi guys -- I couldn't find any other threads asking this specific question, else I would have tacked on my question to there.
Current Setup:
- 16GB non-ECC ram
- Intel Core i5-3470 - which has VT-d passthrough
- Asus P8H77-I mITX Motherboard.
Intel® H77 chipset :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), gray

I came across this thread while looking up PSU's to match, and found it pretty informative. Many thanks for posting the pictures, they describe it so much better than words. At least I verified that the PSU fits in this case and someone's used it before in a htpc/nas-type use. I DID also look...
