I can't recommend VM highly enough. They produce a great product, and their customer service is second to none. If you're in the market for a new machine, you just can't go wrong with them.
I wanted to share with everyone how my situation was resolved. Although it wasn't their problem to fix, Velocity Micro stepped up anyways and is shipping me the correct video card replacement tomorrow morning. I don't know many companies that would have done this, but what I do know is that...
Update:
I seem to have exhausted all options with Best Buy. I spoke with many different people in many different departements at both local stores and corporate divisions, and they all told me the same thing: I had to send the computer back to the service center to get the video card...
No, I haven't done that yet, but it's on my list of possible recourses. I have spent over 30 minutes at the local Best Buy store talking/arguing with one of the Geek Squad managers. It was a fruitless exercise though. The only option he would offer me was to send the computer back to the...
Thanks for the information. That's good to know. Although at this point the brand difference isn't that concerning, it's that I don't want to lose my computer for another two weeks (for a total of five) just because Best Buy screwed up. Is it to much to ask for them to just ship me the...
That is correct. The service center has the busted EVGA 7900GT, and I now have the WinFast 8600GT. I hope that doesn't throw a monkey wrench into this situation...I'm not sure I would be able to recover the 7900GT from the service center or not at this point.
The original card the came with the system was an EVGA 7900GT (which I was very happy with). The replacement card is a Winfast PX8600 GT.
I did some research, and found that in most categories the 7900 card is superior to the 8600 card, especially if you want to play the higher-end games...
I want to preface this posting with this: My problem is not with Velocity Micro, but with Best Buy.
I purchased my ProMagix Q6600 less than a year ago from Best Buy. I also bought the 3 year extended warranty. Up until recently, I've been very pleased with my purchase. A few weeks ago...
I picked up the new computer today, and I must say that so far I am very pleased. I found the "Vista Recovery DVD" in the box....the reason I didn't think it was there before was because the guy at Best Buy couldn't find it.
This rig has been fantastic so far. My wife loves it, and I can...
Thanks for the reply Randy. Well, we've decided to purchase the computer from Best Buy. We're actually about to head over there to pick it up. The only thing that concerns me is that there is apparently not an OS restore disk in the box. Would I be able to request a restore disk from you...
I am considering purchasing a Velocity Micro computer from Best Buy. Specifically, I am looking at the:
Velocity Micro ProMagix Desktop with Intel® Core2 Duo Processor E6600...
Well that sucks that the price has already gone up....
Can anyone speak to how it performs? I've got $400 to spend on a new LCD monitor for gaming, and this looks like a pretty good buy.
