I'm going to claim a tentative and initial success. I drained the system, got the 1883 installed, and filled it back up. After a minor leakage issue....got it leak free. Then plugged everything back in and......viola! Temps are good and zero fan noise. I had it migrate a RAID5 volume to...
I'm replacing my 1882ix-16 with a 1883ix-24. I had forgotten how loud that little fan really is. The rest of the rig is watercooled, so that 40mm blower fan they put on the heatsink was driving me nuts. So....I'm attempting to watercool it....I found some Koolance blocks that fit decently...
I'm not an expert, but it appears to be an anodized finish to me. I don't think its plated in actual copper. My build has copper accents through out. I actually had most of my screws plated in actual copper by a 3rd party. I asked Bitspower if they would be willing to make me some copper...
Not their standard gold finish......
I have some of the gold finish also, and these have more copper color in them. Tint is a little off in the picture, but they are a decent match for my copper blocks.
Finally got my new custom waterblocks from nateman_doo for my AE11 board. Lots more pictures are in my build log...but here a few for those unwilling to make the hop to another forum. :)
Sorry....didn't mean to misquote you. :) I'll be anxious to see what it sounds like with all of them running. They will be controlled with an Aquaero, so they will be spinning very slowly unless it senses a heavy load. I've only had 8 running at one time during my selection/testing....and...
No....doesn't really work that way. Decibels are logarithmic, ..and doubling the sound pressure increases the decibel level by about 3 decibels. So you could double the number of fans in a given system...many times over...and still not increase the sound level (as measured in decibels) much at...
Thanks m3ta1head! The hardware is high-end....but nothing exotic. The main reason for all the rads is I'm after a silent build. Not quiet....silent. And when you undervolt these Noiseblockers to about 900 rpm's, they don't make any noise. Problem is...when you spin them that slowly, the...
I did some heavy customization to my NoiseBlocker M12-S2 fans. Went from this:
.....to this:
I have step by step pictures and instructions on what I did in my full build log. Hope you'll check it out!
Hello Hard Forum,
I'm in the middle of a pretty cool build, and I'd like to invite you to join the watch party. I spend most of my time over on overclock.net, but wanted to share some pictures with this forum also. My build color theme is crimson, in honor of my alma mater the University of...
