I have a HIS radeon hd 4890, evga 750i ftw sli, q6600 2.4ghz, ultra 650w psu and 4gb ocz sli ready ddr2 800mhz ram. Starting today, whenever I boot my computer, the windows 7 splash screen appears then goes away leaving my monitor with a blank screen(but is still on indicated by the green led...
so with my nvidia board, there is no possible way of enabling crossfire?
I thought that crossfire could work on any board and didnt require a special chipset
I just purchased my second 4890 and installed it on my evga 750i ftw mobo. Device manager installes the drivers fine and displays 2 4800 series video cards. However, when I go into CCC the crossfire tab is not listed and when I go to ATI Overdrive, only one card is available. Also when I go...
Im looking for a new video card I am debating betweena 4870x2 or 4890. I am only getting one card now but want to do crossfire in the future.
I have been reading mixed reviews about the 4890 out performing the 4870x2 but the 4870x2 is a dual-gpu and is more expensive.
Let me know what...
thanks
I think I will go with the 4890 single card for now. My current monitor only supports 1280 x 1024 but I might upgrade to 1920 x 1200 soon. I guess I just want someone more efficent than my current 8800gts sli setup since that produces to much heat and dont want to overclock it to...
thanks
I think I am going to go with crossfire for sure now. I dont know if i want to go with the phenom 920 and overclock it or if I should spend the extra to get a 945? Ive heard that these overclock pretty easily with stock cooler but I will probably get a after cooler anyways.
Also...
i want to spend around $800 give or take and figured around 250 for case, ram and psu.

Thanks for the replys guys.
If I havent mentioned earlier, this computer would be for gaming. From my understanding more and more parts of the game are being offloaded from the cpu to the gpu such as physx, etc. I guess what I want to know is, a) for the best performance/cost ratio, would a...
I am planning a new build and need help deciding the video card(s) and possibly the cpu.
I have been intel and nvidia for a long time and wanted to try amd and ati.
I am looking to spend no more than $700-$900 depending on my situation. I am at roughly $240 for ram,dvd drive, case, and...
Right now i currently are backing up on my 1TB drive i got.
I have heard of the term loseless before but dont know how to do it in handbrake
If you could elaborate more on that that would be great.

I am currently backing up my dvd collection to play on a HTPC and am wondering on the format.
Currently I use handbrake and rip the movie part as .mkv using the high quality film setting in handbrake(1800kbps video using h.264 codec and 192kbps ac3 5.1 audio)
