    If you're on a tight budget, get a 6870. otherwise the 6950 will fit the bill. 6970 is a waste imo. imo, only reason to get a 5870 is if you're getting a 2nd for crossfire.

    What was your physics & combined scores? You're comparing your i7 w/hyper-threading and 8MB cache to my i5 w/o hyper-threading and 6MB cache. If I had an i7 2600K, the story would be different I'm sure. Stock for stock, the 2600K should give another ~300 points over the 2500K in 3DMark 11...

    Yes, all tests were done with +20% power and I verified there was no throttling during any of the tests.

    If you take rebates into consideration, things change. I'm usually all about saving as much as possible, even if it's $20. Especially if you get virtually the same performance. As of today you can get a 6950 1GB on Newegg for $225 AR while the cheapest 6950 2GB is $256 AR.

    Te shaders only account for 2-3% of that increase. The rest comes from core/memory clock increase.
