    Sorry I didn't try on Vista, may be you can check the inf file first. The concept of the .reg file is to add an class and pci vender id, so that the OS can reconize the AHCI controller. You may compare the .inf from vista driver and XP driver to see the difference. Sorry I can't check them now.
