Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Contact Areca support, they were a great help to me when my migration failed, also due to power outage. Me accidentally pulling the plug that is :p
Anyway, they asked a lot of specific questions, but did get my data back!
Aah, unfortunately I know that feeling. That's why I set up a password safe in our environment and made people use it. Most of our documentation is still stuck inside one guys head though...
Good to hear its working again though!
That is the correct default information, looks like it has been changed. Can you ask the guys that should do maintenance to try some of their normally used passwords with the grpadmin account?
Its not quite just an import. The VHD image is basically the hard drive, you still have to build a virtual machine around it. Assuming you're running Hyper-V, you just create a new virtual machine, choose not to install anything yet, and replace the vhd the wizard created by the one you got from...
What you could try is to use diskpart to clean each drive in the array and restart from there.
Are there any useful errors in the eventlog on the Areca?
Do NOT get the Samsungs. My problem is pretty much only that the time-outs coincedently happened at the same time on 3 drives. A reboot would have brought the array back up, had I not been running an expansion.
Further, these drives have a silent corruption problem. I don't have the exact link...
Well, so far for HD204UI drives working. I saw 3 simultaneous time-outs while expanding from a 12 disk set to 16 disks, thus failing the expansion. Result being that I can't access my data and am mailing back and forth with Areca support to regenerate the set so I can get to my data yet.
That...
I'm running the 1880ix-24 with 4GB and a BBU in an Asus m3a32-MVP Deluxe with ECC memory and an AMD 4850e proc. This is running 12 Samsung EcoGreen F4 2TB drives fine.
Just an update here on my part, my supplier sent me a replacement unit for my 1880ix-24. The new card is showing a huge improvement over my last card, which would give me about 30MB/s throughput once the write cache was filled. The new card is doing over 400 MB/s with background initialization...
This afternoon my replacement should be in, then a day or so? for a foreground init, then some performance tests with my new 5x F4 2TB ecogreens. Will keep you posted if this solves my performance issue.
Well, after contacting Areca support with no reply whatsoever, I e-mailed my supplier. He sent me an RMA number right away, as he suspects something wrong with the card. Sending it off tonight, fingers crossed!
I have 4 of those hooked up as well, but for some reason my performance doesn't go above 30 or so MB/s once I run out of cache. Also the processor load and memory load on the fileserver rise significantly while copying. I don't mind some extra load, but I do mind extra load and crappy...
Hmmm, initializing a 4 disk RAID5 array of 2 TB disks is only at 8,5 % yet, has been running for about 4 and a half hours now. Running a foreground init, background priority is on high, although that shouldn't matter as I disconnected the other array for this.
Hehe, wasn't meant that way, but after doing some research you guys are right.
Blue Fox, your reason does make sense, my bad. I also figured out where I got mixed up. The topic I read mostly (on Tweakers.net) about home-built RAID NAS systems mentions software RAID on Linux or BSD quite a...
