Looked great until I noticed it was Mini ATX, not Mini ITX. Seems the deluxe is ITX, but the original with 6 SATA ports is ATX

the laptop CPU and RAM turns me off of that one at the moment, but I do like the dual NIC

Are there any good options for Mini ITX socket LGA 1155 motherboards with 5+ SATA ports? Any combo of SATA II/III is fine, just looking for 5+ ports on the mobo without an add in card. The only one I have found is the ZOTAC H67ITX-C-E which has 6 ports, but does not appear to be a great board...

If I have a NAS with a dedicated OS drive and separate storage drives, if I move/write files over the network to the storage drive, does it ever get written to the OS drive before landing on the storage drive? Or is that handled in RAM?
