dvsman: Yes, according to Samsung Magician the 970 is using the NVME driver.
The 840 has Rapid Mode enabled, but Rapid Mode is not available for the 970.
Funny thing was, I didn't see it listed on the parts callout. It wasn't even mentioned in the main instructions.
I just happened to see the piece in the parts bag after I latched the CPU, (but luckily before I mounted the heatsink).
It was then that I spotted the installation instructions for it...
Master- Yes, I tried it the way the instructions illustrate it, but I just couldn't get the plate to close.

Just sorting out a new build- ASUS Z930-A, 9700K and a 970EVO NVMe M.2 drive.
Running some benchmarks after getting everything up and running, it looks like my old 840EVO kicks the 970EVO ass.
Possible driver issue, BIOS issue, defective 970?
It's only running PCIEx2, because I'm using all 6...
Just put together a new build- 9700K with TRUE Spirit 140 Power.
The cooler included a plastic spacer for use with 1151 sockets.
No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the retaining plate to close with the spacer on the CPU.
From what I've read, the spacer became necessary because Skylake CPU...
Gathering parts for a new build (i7-9700K on an Asus Z370-A Prime).
Trying to decide on an air cooler.
Wondering if the Macho is that much better, if at all, than the TRUE Spirit.
Basically wondering if the extra weight and size is worth it.
