    Upgrading Mom's PC

Hi everyone! My mother called me today to say that her computer has "died." After going up to visit, her computer is working after all......BUT, it's been ~6 years since I built this for her, and I think it's beyond time to upgrade. So we're replacing all the major components - MB, CPU, RAM...

Time to upgrade older machine. Input greatly appreciated!

Great - thank you for the speedy responses! I'll hold off for now while I continue to do some research. Fingers crossed for a rockin' September deal....

Time to upgrade older machine. Input greatly appreciated!

My workplace is actually almost right between the two stores - ~12 miles from each. As for cases, I'm leaning towards the Antec 1100 or the Corsair 500R. Currently have Windows XP - Upgrade path?

Thanks for the answers so far. How about when price is taken into consideration? Most estimates I've seen are that the speed differences between 7 and 8 are roughly 1-2%, depending on quite a few factors. Either way you slice it, it will be a LARGE upgrade from XP Pro in terms of speed...

Currently have Windows XP - Upgrade path?

Hi everyone, I am currently running Windows XP on my computer. I refused to play with Vista when it came out, and for various reasons (out of the country for extended periods of time) I never upgraded to Windows 7. However, now that I am working in the country again, I'm starting to...
