Try coretemp, i ithink its linked to above. It gives you the temp of the individual cores.

YOu might want to try a different program, with coretemp im no longer sure its running so hot

See now im confused. with speedfan, the temps are shown at high 70's but with coretemp the temps of either core doesnt top 49. Which one should i believe? Now I cant belive that i just bought a 9700 if coretemp is right

I had though that might be it so i moved the card over, but there was not temp difference. I also have a 110cfm fan blowing outside air straight to the heatsink.

now how do you know if it wasnt making contact? the thermal paste seems to be on pretty evenly all around. Ill try that razor blade trick later to see. Using CoreTemp im getting 25C on core 0 and 36C on core one. A temp difference that big seems strange to me, maybe the cooler isnt making...
