    If when you're speaking it turns down the sound that you hear, then how do you expect to hear an opponent come up behind you or something important your teammate says? You won't. You might be confusing this with little programs like TSmate that lower the game volume or a streaming music feed...

    Does this happen to you with other files, too? It might be the NForce4 I see in your sig. If it is try disabling/uninstalling the nvidia active armor firewall or what it's called. (Quick google search.) It worked for me. Not just files but images on websites would also be messed up.
