    Dead Silent PC-Possible without overheating?

    It sounds like you need to move to 120mm fans. I'm using 4 120mm (2 intake, 2 exhaust) each around 60cfm/25db with a Zalman 7000cu on a stock P4 2.4c and have a case temp of ambient +2 and a CPU temp of 28 at idle.

    After building a new system with silence in mind, I noticed that the hard drive was by far the noisiest component. I purchased a quiet hard drive to act as my primary drive and am using the much larger and louder drive for simple file storage. Under "Power Options" in the XP Control Panel...
