RMA to NewEgg- what to expect

I want to RMA my XFX 8800GT (bought at Newegg) since I get red artifacts and crashes in Crysis. This happens about twice out of 10 hours of play with the supplied drivers and the /3gb switch in windows. It used to happen every 30 min or so with the 169 drivers and without the /3gb switch. Now...

8800GT Great card, but all is not well.

Right, heres the story: (Its an XFX 8800GT Alpha dog edition. 640Mhz core clock.) I did not do anything drastic like remove the heatsink cover. I loosened the fan screws about a turn, which did not seem to have any effect. The fan was on just as solidly as it was, and it still made the noise...

8800GT Great card, but all is not well.

XFX Alpha dog edition. 640Mhz. This truly is a great card. Plugged in, installed the drivers from the cd, and got 10560 in 3dm 06 on default settings. Crysis demo High detail 1680x1050 no sign of lag at all. Smiles all the way. Then I started hearing a clicking sound from my case. Hoping...

Linux support on Intel boards - urgent

So we bought an E6600 to install linux on and act as a virtual machine server. Problem is, that the idiots gave us an Asus 915G chipset board, with ICH6. We could not even get the internal DVD RW working in SUSE. LAN driver worked sporadically. We then tried win2k3 server, again the LAN driver...

How long will the g80 last?

For current games like FEAR, and 3DM 2005 (didnt see a 2006 run) the 8800GTS (with beta drivers) is CPU limited. FEAR at 1600x1200 with no AA, AF, Soft shadows has the exact same frames as it has with them. (FX 62, Conroe X6800) Dont ask me how I know.

OK...What would you do if ...

Just email them and inform them. I think the chance of you keeping both is pretty good. Especially if you tell them that they have to deposit shipping charges into your bank account before you return it. Its the right, honest thing to to, and you may still end up with both.

    Best gaming mouse??

When you have long fingers like I do, both the Razer and Logitech are finger mice. :p I prefer the feel of my MX500(same shape as G5) to the feel of my Copperhead.

    70C at load in CoreTemp

As far as I know, the usual apps (speedfan, Asus AI, etc) read from the diode under the CPU. Only Core temp and TAT that I know of read the temp off the CPU internal temp monitoring diode. (the one used for thermal protection and throttling) What I wonder, is why TAT and CoreTemp reads...
