Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
How is the fan noise on those POE switches? Does it vary with load? I'd expect some fan noise if you were running a bunch of POE+ devices but hopefully they are temperature/load driven and not just on full blast?
Thanks. There seem to be many more deals on ebay for Netgear than Zyzel, not sure why that is. a 48 port zyzel would cost 2x what this netgear would be (found a deal for $325). But if it's not reliable then it's not worth it.
46DB is the spec on that netgear at full load. No idea how loud...
Requirements:
-More than 24 ports (probably need about 30 today)
-POE on all ports would be nice (have 2 APs and 6 cameras today)
-POE+ would be nice to have as well
-smart switch if not fully L3 managed
From what I can gather picking up a GS752TP on ebay would fit the bill nicely...
I run Blue Iris as well as about 10 other VMs on less hardware than you were spec'ing. Details here if you want. Currently running 5 cameras at 3MP & 20FPS each. NO issues.
Since there seem to be a few blueiris junkies hanging out here I thought I'd post an update to this thread - while not specific to Vmware here is an article some folks might find interesting:

Thanks again - will report back with CPU usage & cooling data once new cooler is in place.
(and yes this isn't going in a rack, in a desktop case for now)
Hey guys. On my system (many of you have commented on the build - thanks) I am heavily utilizing the system which I love.
One workload in particular (windows 8.1U1) that runs Blue Iris for video surveillance is a heavy CPU load. It uses between 7000 and 9500mhz (out of ~13,000) and as such...
Now that this system has been up for 8 days without incident I'm going to consider the issue solved due to a bad NIC. Time to toss it in the parts bin.
Regarding BI - it's on my list. I'd actually like to do a case study with Ken (BI developer) but I haven't gotten around to seeing if he'd be interested. he doesn't really do any marketing or promotion so it might help him out.
BI is fantastic, the one challenge if you are deploying it for...
So without knowing exactly what i'm looking for - or which log might have the relevent data, I did find this error message throughout the vmkernel.log:

Hey guys, I'm in need of some advice on troubleshooting my ESXI host. I am running the following config:

this issue has happened several times now:
