How to Increase Fan Speed on GTX 280?

I should probably add that I never overclocked before today, so maybe I did something wrong. Is there some setting I need to tweak to keep the GPU temp down? All I did to get my overclock was increase the CPU frequency on my Q6600 to get it to 3.0 GHz. All other bios settings were left to...

How to Increase Fan Speed on GTX 280?

Even with my fan speed at 100%, I still get GPU temps around 95 degrees Celsius during peak activity in Crysis Warhead. Is that OK or do I need to get an aftermarket cooler?

How to Increase Fan Speed on GTX 280?

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I installed Precision and you're right, it's great! I increased fan speed from 40% to 80%, and my GPU temp during the same benchmark (3DMark06) dropped from 92 to 69 degrees! Is there a similar utility to control CPU fan speed, or is that always at 100%?

How to Increase Fan Speed on GTX 280?

Incidentally, do these temperatures look dangerous? Everything seems stable and no warning messages are popping up, but those numbers look pretty high. I think the Nvidia cards are designed to automatically shut down or warn you if you approach dangerous temperatures, so I think I'm OK, but...

How to Increase Fan Speed on GTX 280?

After overclocking my Q6600 from 2.4 stock to 3.0 GHz, I ran 3DMark06 and monitored temperature levels. "Core 1" of the CPU hit 72 degrees at its peak, and the Nvidia GTX 280 hit a peak of 92 degrees during the test. I'd like to crank up the video card's fan speed, but there doesn't appear to...

AMD ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 Preview

Will I need a next-gen, PCI-e 2.0 motherboard to run this card, or will my old Asus P5W64 WS Pro suffice?

Asus P5W64 WS Pro - Can I Install 2 HD 4870's in Crossfire?

I bought this board a year or so ago with the intent that it be relatively future-proof. I have an 8800 GTX now and am waiting for the right moment to upgrade to two ATI cards in Crossfire. I've read, however, that even though my board has 4 PCI-e x16 slots, they are not all that speed and, as a...

Need Power Supply Bracket to Install PSU in Alienware case

I just swapped out the Enermax PSU that shipped with my Alienware Area-51 for a more powerful (but same-sized) PSU. The mounting plate that came with the Enermax, however, does not fit perfectly to the new PSU. So my new PSU is sitting on the rails where it's supposed to be, but it's not...
